Biography
I am passionate about conflict resolution and have been a commercial and community mediator since I trained with CEDR in 1992. As a lawyer I always believed that a client was more content achieving a fair and early outcome rather than taking the long and expensive road towards an mandated solution in court with all the uncertainties stress and expense that that involved. Mediated agreements are the best alternative to a negotiated settlement and over the years I have mediated in many sectors - mainly agriculture, building, partnership and property, the vast majority with successful outcomes. I also mediate regularly in the community often on police recommendations to reduce levels of tension and crime in some of our most deprived areas. I am a founder member of the Association of Northern Mediators and the current chair of the charity Yorkshire Mediation. I am a panel member of both the Civil Mediation Council and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
